Most Owners Find Out From a Demand Letter

Most WordPress themes ship with these three issues by default. Nobody checks until a demand letter forces the issue. WCAGpatch checks before that happens.

  • Missing Alt Text

Screen readers can't describe an image with no alt attribute. It's a common cause of ADA demand letters.

  • Missing ARIA Labels

Buttons and menus without ARIA labels are invisible to assistive technology, even when they work visually.

  • Broken Heading Structure

Skipping heading levels breaks navigation for screen reader users, even if the page looks fine.

How it works

Fix. Certify. Done.

01

Scan

axe-core, the open-source accessibility engine maintained by Deque Systems, checks every page against WCAG 2.1 AA. Finds what your theme quietly breaks.

A scan in progress. Pages are checked in batches and the status line updates as each batch completes, ending on the site score.

02

Fix

On Pro and up, AI writes real alt text and fixes common issues directly in your code. On Starter, you get the findings and fix them yourself.

03

Certify

Download a dated PDF after every scan. It documents what was found, and what was fixed if you're on Pro.

What the certificate records

Site
your-domain.com
Issue date
the date of the scan
Pages scanned
every post, page and CPT
Violations found
counted by severity
Auto-fixed
Pro and up

Automated tools detect approximately 30–40% of WCAG violations. The certificate states that on its face.

Real Code Changes, Not an Overlay

Overlays load a script that patches your site at runtime. Turn it off and the fixes disappear. WCAGpatch writes the fix into your actual HTML and Media Library.

  • Alt text gets written into your Media Library, not a script.
  • No JavaScript widget loads on every page view.
  • Fixes stay in your code even if you deactivate the plugin.

Features

What's Inside WCAGpatch

Six things ship in the box. Two of them are the reason people leave an overlay: the scan runs against your whole site, and nothing of ours loads on your front end.

Full Site Scanner

Checks every post, page, and custom post type against WCAG 2.1 AA, not just your homepage.

No Server Required

Runs inside WordPress. No external account, no data leaving your server.

AI Auto-Fix

Pro and up

AI writes real alt text into your Media Library and fixes common ARIA and heading issues in your code.

Remediation Report

Pro and up

A detailed PDF of every violation found, what was fixed, and what still needs a human.

Compliance Certificate

A dated PDF you can hand to a lawyer, a client, or an auditor. Regenerated after every scan.

Regression Alerts

Daily re-scans catch new violations the moment a page update introduces one.

Why us

Why Overlays Don't Protect You

AccessiBe and UserWay inject a JavaScript widget that patches accessibility at runtime. Disability advocates are suing both of them over it. WCAGpatch changes the actual code on your site instead.

Every cell states its answer in words, so the color is reinforcement and never the signal.
What you are comparing Overlays WCAGpatch
Fix type Runtime overlay only Real code changes
Legal risk profile High, actively being sued Lower, no guarantee implied
Works without JavaScript No, requires the widget Yes, fixes live in the HTML
AI alt text fix No, not offered Yes, Pro and up
Compliance certificate Rarely, if ever Yes, dated PDF every scan
Price $490 per year $69 once, no subscription

The deliverable

Your Proof of Good Faith

Courts don't require a perfect site. They look for a documented, good-faith effort to fix accessibility issues. A dated certificate is that documentation, on paper, with your domain and the date on it.

  • Dated PDF, generated after every scan
  • Documents every violation found
  • Adds fixed counts too, on Pro and up
  • One certificate per site, Agency covers your whole book

Common Questions

Is this a legal guarantee?

No tool can guarantee that — anyone who says otherwise is lying. What WCAGpatch gives you is a documented good-faith effort: scans run, violations found, fixes applied, certificate dated. That's what courts look for, and it's exactly what a $490/yr overlay does not provide.

Will this slow down my site?

No. WCAGpatch fixes your code directly — it doesn't inject a runtime JavaScript widget that loads on every page (that's what overlays do). Most sites see a slight SEO improvement after fixes because proper alt text and heading structure are ranking signals.

What does AI fix automatically?

AI auto-fix is a Pro and Agency feature. It handles alt text for images (written directly into your WordPress Media Library), heading structure issues, empty link text, missing form labels, and ARIA roles. You provide your own OpenAI API key — which means zero ongoing AI costs to you. Typically costs pennies per site.

What versions of WordPress are supported?

WordPress 6.0 and above. Compatible with all major page builders including Elementor, Divi, and the Gutenberg block editor.

Who built this

Built by a Developer Who Saw the Gap

WCAGpatch started with a simple observation. ADA demand letters kept landing on small WordPress sites, and most of what was being sold to those owners was an overlay that either got sued itself or didn't fix anything. Nobody was making the real fix easy. So we built it: something that changes the code, not a widget bolted on top.
